A ministry of Oakden Baptist Church, Cedar College is an R-12 Co-educational Christian School in the suburb of Northgate, South Australia.
Officially opened in 1997, the connection between Cedar College and Oakden Baptist Church provides the school with spiritual leadership as well as pastoral counselling and support.
The first classes began in February 1997, with a school size of just 34 students. A continual building development program was implemented to cater for the growing numbers, and new facilities have been added each year in line with the school’s growth and Master Plan.
Today Cedar College has over 700 students and continues to grow its student numbers and facilities. The most notable recent additions are the two-storey Cedar College Resource Centre and the Cedar College Sports Centre, adjacent to the Vickers Vimy Oval.
A distinctly Christian school, Cedar College is committed to preparing students for real life, as they discover Jesus personally, display Christ-like love and develop self through academic achievement. The Bible and its principles are taught alongside all subject areas and students take part in daily devotional times during the school day. Pastoral Care Workers and Chaplains play a key role in the school community, by supporting teaching staff in the vital area of student care and well-being.
The school is divided into three departments – Primary School (Reception to Year 6), Middle School (Year 7 to Year 9) and Senior School (Year 10 to Year 12). These departments allow students to develop academically and socially at appropriate levels. Specialist teaching staff follow the National Curriculum and are committed to preparing students for Tertiary Education, including University and other suitable career pathways.
Cedar College is a non-denominational, independent Christian School, and a member of Christian Schools Australia.
